George Lucas's Baby

Student Author: Cooper S.

Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars movie to this date. Throughout the movie they continue to use their established characters while adding to the roster with Boba Fett, Lando Calrissian, and Yoda. This movie also perfectly executes a narrative with the villains keeping the heroes on their toes. Empire Strikes Back keeps the atmosphere and theme that A New Hope creates and builds on it, keeping your love of the Star Wars universe intact instead of leaving you frustrated like sequels tend to do.

George Lucas is an amazing director and it shows in the flying colors in Empire Strikes Back and his characters. John Williams, the composer, sets the mood amazingly with such great scores. Lando Calrissian has an amazing, charismatic personality that anyone will love to see throughout the movie. Han Solo keeps his smooth talking personality and his nonchalance even with the Empire surrounding him. George Lucas also adds Boba Fett, an intimidating bounty hunter standing up to Darth Vader with such little screen time. But even with the circumstances, Boba Fett has a gigantic following to this day. Last of all he introduces Yoda. Yoda is a silly and wise Jedi with a few tricks still up his sleeves. He also trains Luke and teaches him valuable lessons in the short time they have together. Overall, George Lucas does a great job at keeping his existing characters and introduces many more amazing characters to the Star Wars fandom.

Overall, Empire Strikes Back is a great movie to watch and doesn’t have a dull scene. From the colors to the characters, this movie was made with love and it shows. In the end, I highly recommend watching Empire Strikes Back to enjoy an actually good sequel.
